ImpeachGMA.com

Though I’ve heard that an impeach-gloria site exists, I didn’t discover this site until today: www.impeachgma.com. It features, among other things, the full text of the amended impeachment complaint against Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

I tried searching for the domain name owner through whois search, but the owner prefers to be anonymous.

Filipino Bloggers on Senator Roco

Edwin Lacierda wrote a tribute to the late senator who was his mentor in the law profession:

Raul S. Roco will be forever be remembered for his greatness in the halls of the House of Representatives and the Senate floor and for his incorruptible accomplishments in the Department of Education. But I will always cherish him as my first teacher in the law profession who took time to train the humble and the lowly, to emphasize that right is might, the primacy of country over one’s own, public service over private greed and faith in man’s goodness over pessimism and hopelessness.

Youth leader Mong Palatino on the the youngest president of the National Union of the Philippines: “Raul Roco may have lost two presidential elections but he will be remembered as the most admired Filipino politician among young Filipinos. ”

NUJP Statement On Glenda Gloria’s Death Threat

Below is the press statement of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines on the death threat against Newsbreak managing editor Glenda Gloria:

August 3, 2005

The National Union of Journalists of the Philippines views with deep concern the death threat received by Glenda Gloria, managing editor of Newsbreak magazine. The incident, in which a man sent Ms. Gloria a wreath for the dead, should not be taken lightly.

This incident shows that the enemies of press freedom in this country are still at it, trying to instill fear in the hearts of journalists.

We urge the authorities to investigate the threat received by Ms. Gloria and to bring those behind it to justice.

We also urge them to intensify their efforts to solve the numerous cases of death threats received by many other journalists, as well as the murders of our colleagues.

Quote of the Day

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo: “Ako ay hindi isang taong madrama. Ako ay isang taong masipag.”

I hope this statement is not a half-truth. We all know for a fact she’s a hardworking person, but as for the “hindi madrama” part, let me watch that “I’m sorry” speech again.
