Here are some reasons why the Philippines needs Superman:

With his super breath, Superman could repair the damage caused by the oil spill in Guimaras and nearby areas in a few minutes, probably even seconds–a task that could take six months to one year when done with ordinary human strength. Maybe he could also pressure Petron to be more responsible and convince government officials to place public interests before that of the big corporations.

These words, utterred before the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law, could very well be a description of current affairs in the country, especially in Central Luzon.
